Finished with sculpting and pose. I am open for critique, but this model is already accepted and I not sure I'll going to change anything. Done in Zbrush 4.0

Character copyright to Morgan Fitzsimmons *morgansartworld and Fitztown #Fitztown . Concept sketch by Ariane Soares *Luaprata91 . Model is copyrighted to me.

That would look pretty amazing textured in several action poses!

Hi, wondering what your process for sculpting the wings may be? You just use planes?
Reply
:icondeckardx08:
Yes, for this model I used only planes (with Subtool- Extract). In my later dragon models, I also used Zsphere adaptive skin to make the fingers.

Nice, I've had trouble trying to achieve believable wings in the past, before I heard mention of planes being the way to do it. I'll be trying it soon :D

Zbrush is a thing of legend :P

Really great stuff, are you planning on polypainting it?

Thanks, yes I tried to polypaint it. But the result didn't satisfy me, and I left this project for a while.

I can see nothing wrong with this. The aesthetics and anatomy are flawless.

I'm among a great majority of individuals who have no business critiquing this mass of perfection.

Thank you for such kind words, though I see many mistakes myself. Hope I'll manage to avoid them in my future dragon models. The thing that worries me most is how to do scales correctly. Alpha stamps look boring, and scuplting each individually is a waste of time.

To be honest, I think it looks fine. In some of the books that I've read, if you want to add texture to an entire body, you can simply trick the eye by adding texture to certain parts to make it seem the entire body is covered.

Right idea. But the main question is a correct balance of detail level between parts. I guess this only comes with experience. *shadow-wolf has great skills with such things. Her pictures look great from any resolution or zoom level and never feel like overloaded with details. I tried to adapt her techniques for Zbrush sculpts, but with little success.
